Table Layout

Across the top of the table are the names of the Y chromosome locations (loci) used for testing. On the left of the table are the names of each participant tested with their individual data presented on the right. The data are sorted in comparison to the first individual on the table. The compared participants are listed based on a 80% match, those participants matching the first individual less than 80% are listed at the bottom of the table according to an arbitrary sequence number.

Using the "Compare" Button

The most important tool available to manipulate the table is the "Compare" button on the left side of the table. If you click on the compare button on any line in the table, the table will be resorted so that the selected line is placed at the top and the other lines are sorted in comparison to that line

Table Details

Mismatching data are color coded.

A dash, "-", shown in a data box in the table means that results were not produced for that locus. In the cases of DYS19b, DYS385c, DYS464e, and DYS464f, lack of a result may be due to the fact that these allele results are very rare in nature and not present in most individuals. In other situations, the dash may signify the presence of a null allele or, an allele value that cannot be amplified or obtained using the current testing methodology. Null allele values are generally caused by a mutation at a specific DNA position within the region being tested. This mutation renders the locus uninformative under the testing conditions employed by the laboratory.

A blank box in the table indicates that a particular locus or group of loci was not tested.
